ICT Committees & eGovernment Agency

In 2005 the government, showing its seriousness and appreciation of the importance of ICT deployment for the interest of the kingdom and the public, has passed the Resolution on formation of Supreme Committee on ICT:

قرار رئيس مجلس الوزراء رقم (25) لسنة 2005 بإنشاء وتشكيل لجنة عليا لتقنية المعلومات والاتصالات  

The Resolution also sets the Technical Committee of ICT.

The objectives and functions of these Committees, as indicated in the Resolution, directly contribute towards the enablement of eGovernment and provide the support to eGovernment while retaining the supervisory and monitoring power on the process. 

Electronic Government, also known as eGovernment or eGov, is the terminology used to refer to the utilization and deployment of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) by the government of a country to allow the exchange of information with citizens, businesses and among the government agencies or institutions. The initiative also aims to improve internal efficiency, the delivery of public services, or processes of democratic governance.

Beside the above, the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain has also undertaken eGovernment project initiatives. It has commissioned for eGovernment strategy to be studied, researched and designed  

The government of the Kingdom of Bahrain understands the benefits eGovernment has to offer and has undertaken necessary steps towards the implementation of the eGovernment project with the visions to be the regional eGovernment leader; to enable the provision of all government key services through the use of ICT; to have the processes integrated and designed in a customer centric fashion – best-in-class; to have the services deliveries available to all; and to have multiple channels for availing the services.  

The important milestone of such initiative is marked with the establishment of the eGovernment Agency in 2007.  This Agency has been established by virtue of (the decree will be uploaded here)
